Comfort Dentistry
Nitrous Oxide
Also known as “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is used to help a patient manage anxiety during dental procedures. A small mask is placed over the patient’s nose so they can breathe a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen during the treatment.
Nitrous Oxide Safety
Nitrous oxide is safe and effective. It requires no downtime and the patient can drive immediately after appointments in which nitrous oxide was used. Note about Nitrous Oxide: At our office, we want our patients to feel comfortable. Nitrous oxide is complementary the first time it is used. This gives you the opportunity to try it so that we can determine whether or not it is a good fit for you. After the initial use, it is $60 each time is is used. (Guidelines for children on nitrous oxide can be found under Pediatric Dentistry.)
Oral Sedation
We understand that going to the dentist can be especially challenging for some patients. Often Nitrous Oxide (or laughing gas) is enough to ease apprehension. However, in more severe cases of dental anxiety, we offer the option of oral sedation such as Valium or Halcion combined with Nitrous Oxide in order to help you relax throughout your appointment. You can inquire about eligibility for these services at your dental visit.
Digital Impressions
If you’ve ever had an impression (mold) made, then you probably remember the gunky, messy material that was placed in your mouth. Not only is this process uncomfortable and irritating, it also produces a lot of waste in materials.
Solstice Dental Does Dental Impressions Differently
At our office, we use a digital scanner to make virtual 3D models of your teeth. We can then use these images to communicate with high-tech dental laboratories or to make your crowns and veneers in-office using our own milling equipment. Not only is the process more comfortable, it allows for quicker turnaround from laboratories and in many instances we can complete your treatment in a single visit. (See Same Day Crowns for more information.)
Calm, Relaxing Environment
Our clinic doesn’t feel like every other dental office you’ve visited. When you arrive you’ll be greeted with the scent of lavender and surrounded by natural light. Calming music plays throughout the space and a variety of herbal teas and fruit-infused water is available for you and your loved ones to enjoy.
Personalized Dental Treatment for You
You’ll be offered a blanket, neck pillow, and headphones for your comfort. Dr. Manning will thoroughly explain the procedure and talk to you about concerns and preferences so that she can personalize your treatment. At the end of the appointment, you’ll be offered a warm peppermint towel and you will be sent an email with post-treatment instructions specific to your procedure. (Update: We have suspended the use of warm towels to better follow COVID protocols.)
